Bonefish Grill

Welcome to our newest feature here on Lynchburg Mama – Date Nights in the South! My husband and I have been together since 2006, married in 2013, and still feel like we’re “dating“. What’s our secret? Our first answer would be communication. A runner up would be that we take time out for us. No kids, no family members, no friends — just us. Life gets crazy and there are months where we feel like we are on-the-go 24/7 but as our relationship has progressed, squeezing in us-time has become a must-have.

Sadly, 41% of first marriages and 60% of second marriages end in divorce . My husband and I are each other’s second marriage so we’re working hard, together, to ensure that we don’t become a part of that statistic! By sharing our date nights, I hope to encourage others with tips for making this work in your relationship as well as recommending some pretty awesome places!

Our Date!

Bonefish Grill Date Night

My husband and I both enjoy an assortment of fish and seafood dishes. The Bonefish Grill quickly became one of our favorites to treat ourselves after a visit to a location in Florida. Thankfully, we don’t have to travel that far for a night out – we are just a hop, skip, and a jump away from our little hometown of Lynchburg. As we walked into the Murfreesboro, TN location, we were greeted with smiles and immediately seated. We arrived around 4:30 p.m. and within 20 minutes, the entire restaurant had every table sat.

Our date night started out with a couple of Fresh Margaritas – my husband had Patrón and I chose the Sauza.  Both were quite delicious! Bread and a jug of water were immediately brought to the table and it didn’t take but a second to grab the Bang Bang Shrimp as one of the appetizers. The ‘Fresh’ menu had additional choices that made the main entrée difficult to decide. One hint of strawberries was all it took for me to fall victim to ordering the seasonal Strawberry Shortcake for dessert.

Our server, Daniel, was perfectly attentive. He ensured that our dishes were staged out to give us plenty of time to enjoy each one without overlapping or lag of time waiting for the next. Our drinks were never empty and our dishes were plated nicely, featuring amazing flavor. My husband’s Haddock had such a delectable grill flavor that made every bite savory and fulfilling. My Cod featured a sprinkling and stuffing of crab, covered with a white wine lemon butter sauce that caused me to stuff myself because I couldn’t put my fork down!

The atmosphere of the Bonefish Grill in Murfreesboro, TN was perfect to start our new series of Date Nights in the South! We were able to talk about anything under the sun. It was relaxing and a big stress reliever to take our time through each dish. Our life is constantly on-the-go, running from one ball field to another, the grocery store, errands, school events, work, and more. We are looking forward to our next date night! Where would you recommend?

  1. Oh girl, it must be love. Question, is it Bonefish ,your husband or the magic combo of both? I live in Manchester & would never think of date night and Boro traffic, LOL. Glad to see the mussels on the menu.

  2. The Blueberry Lemon Drop sounds fantastic. As for the bar bites, I think I would love the Crispy Au Gratin Bites.

  3. I have never been to Bonefish before. I love martinis, so I would like to try the Tropical Tiki Martini. As for the Bar Bite, I would like to try the Crispy Calamari. Yum!

  4. I’d love to try the Ahi Tuna Poke and the Wagyu Beef Sliders. We’re currently not drinking alcohol for medical reasons.

  5. I’ve had the Bang Bang Shrimp at Bonefish Grill, and I’m infatuated. Let’s pair that with a Tropical Tiki Martini–I’ve never had a martini, and I’ve been curious to try one– and that will make a perfect getaway night.
