Discover 6 ways to de-stress for a better weekend!
Do you feel as though you are just unable to relax at the weekend? Maybe you just feel as though your time is far too valuable to sit there and do nothing. Either way, if you don’t give yourself the chance to relax then you may end up being overworked and this is the last thing that you need.
You will never be able to fully relax or gain a new perspective on your situation if you are constantly buried in emails. If you feel as though you are constantly checking your emails then now is the time for you to unplug. Shut down your work email and also make sure that you avoid social media too. If this sounds like a major step then consider doing it for one day only- for example, on a Saturday.
Spend Time with your Friends and Family
It’s also important that you take the time to celebrate the end of your working week with friends or even with family. Social connection has proven time and time again to be the fuel for happiness and believe it or not, it’s vital to your health. It’s very easy for your family and friends to be pushed back when you spend so much time at work so make time for them as much as you can. You also need to make sure that you make time for at least one social calendar activity each weekend. Sure, you might not always feel up to it, but that being said, it’s a truly fantastic way for you to really make the most out of your time.
Mental and physical exercise is a fantastic way for you to bring some degree of variety to your workouts. If you do the same gym routine every single weekday or if you jog every morning, then mix things up at the weekend. Use the extra time that you have to go out on a hike or even a long bike ride. If you don’t feel like doing any of this then take yourself out on a walk instead.
It’s all too common for people to spend a lot of time in front of the screen all day and not to do much else. For this reason, you’ll want to use the weekend to try and get outdoors and for you to get away from your screen. It doesn’t matter whether the weather is great or not because you need to give yourself time to really enjoy not being in the office. Track how many hours you actually spend outdoors at the weekend and find out if it is possible for you to increase this amount every weekend. When you do, you will soon find that it works wonders in terms of your outlook on life.
Enjoy Food and Drink
Nothing quite beats a good meal with a fine glass of wine. During the week, you may feel as though your meals are rushed and that you just don’t have time to get everything done. This is understandable, but the weekend is the time that you can turn all of this round. Take your time to appreciate what you are cooking and even try your hand at making this cozy gingerbread house!
Do what you Love
This may sound somewhat obvious but the extra time that you have at the weekend will give you the chance to do way more of what you actually love. It’s recommended that you make a list of all the things that you would love to do at the weekend, whether it’s watching sporting events, reading, listening to music or even spending time with your children. When you see it written down, you will find it much easier to make time for it. You will also be able to stop other things from encroaching on your time off as well, so do keep that in mind.
So, there are many things that you can do to unwind and de-stress, and if you follow the above tips then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to get some R&R while also doing what you really love. If you have enough time on your hands it may even be worth trying to learn a new hobby! This could include crocheting or even trying to learn an instrument. This will give you a great deal of satisfaction and it will also help you to make way more time in the day for yourself because you’ll have an aim to shoot for.
