Hi Y’all! I’m Hunter….and here is my purpose…
I started out in a litter of 6 – myself with two sisters and three brothers. Mom was a Shepard and Dad was a Red Heeler. I loved my family but couldn’t wait to get to my forever home in Lynchburg, Tennessee with the Lynchburg Mama family! Now I have a human mom and dad as well as two brothers, Isaiah and Aidan. Initially, they brought me home to protect their chickens but I have managed to sneak my way into their hearts as so much more.
These humans of mine are so much fun. Before the big yellow box takes them away for the day, I am greeted with fresh food, water, and lots of hugs and kisses. Okay, so they might not give me kisses but I make sure they get plenty! I just turned a year old in January but I still think I’m a puppy small enough to fit in their laps.
The chickens, guineas, and pigs still aren’t quite fond of me but I still try to play with them. I should want to protect them but the puppy in me feels like hopping, jumping, and having fun. Like Ellie (one of the dogs that Bailey was , I was born to do a job but I have become so much more to my humans. I haven’t been shot (thank goodness!) but I did have a close call with a tornado a few weeks ago. It was very scary!
I have never been much of a fan for treats but one smell of Emma Lou’s Kitchen Chicken Dog Jerky and I was trying to get the whole bag! You can find them along with other great treats on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Trust me, I’m following along so I can let my humans know when it’s time to stock up again and snag discounts. That means more yummy treats for me!
My humans often give me human food treats but now that I have my paws on this Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook and bone-shaped treat cutter! There are over 100 tail-wagging recipes and I’m ready to sink my canines into and every one of them. I love my veggies so I am hoping that my humans will use some of the extra zucchini this year for me!
My journey with my humans is just beginning. I foresee a ton of adventures with them – especially my main man, Aidan. He loves my hugs and kisses at any time! The white coats scare me but I do as my humans say and sit while they give me all of those shots that hurt but help keep me safe and healthy.
After watching Bailey go through life, trying to find his purpose (and even becoming a girl!! tee hee!), I now know what my purpose is! My little humans are growing up way too fast….what would you call it? As fast as dog years?? Soon, it’ll be just me, mom, and dad. While Isaiah is off exploring the world with the US Navy and Aidan is building his engineering company, I will be there to entertain, love and be a shoulder to catch all the tears for when the nest is empty!
I had a purpose, I was needed again and again and again. With each new life I was learning a new lesson.
